Today is 62nd day of India Lock Down and International Towel Day.

Towel Day is celebrated every 25th of May as a tribute by fans of the late author Douglas Adams. On this day, fans carry a towel with them to demonstrate their love for the books and the author Douglas Adams. Towel day was first celebrated on 25-May-2001, two weeks after the death of Douglas Adams at the age of 49, when a group of fans decided to honor his memory by celebrating the humble - yet most essential - piece of cloth Towel. The towel is a reference to Douglas Adams’s popular science fiction comedy series "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy".

A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you — daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value.

All you need to do to take part in Towel Day celebration is to “Don’t Worry and Carry A Towel With You.”

The above Picture is of Mr. Tanuj Vijay Friend & The Director / Model of a company Cosa Nostraa it is a Jaipur based company and they deals in Men’s Accessorise. I was with him in Kolkata for a campaign shoot for Cosa Nostraa with our team. Luckily or Unluckily for him, we were sharing the hotel room. The problem of sharing a room with a Photographer / Blogger is that they don’t miss a chance of a good picture or a story. So was the case here, I was sitting at the opposite side of the beds and reading the text on my mobile. He came out of the bathroom in towel, his clothes were on the bed and it strike to me that Towel Day is coming soon. As I faced the mobile camera towards him he got conscious but still I got this shot which I like. We were already running late for the shoot and after that had the hectic day and so on . . . so this incident just got washed out from his mind. Interesting thing is that he does not check my blog and I had properly tagged this picture.

Now I am waiting for the day when this picture will get indexed in Google with his name Mr. Tanuj Vijay. Someone might going to tell him about the picture or he himself will find out but his reaction at that time would be priceless . . . :p

  5. Don´t tell anybody. I still haven´t seen the movie.
At least I knew instantly what the towel is all about, phew.
It´s so sad you have to buy the DVD to see the movie in the original, otherwise you get it in German with all the jokes going wrong....
